I'm Carolyn Dykema, and I'm asking for your vote to be your representative for the Massachusetts 8th Middlesex district.

Over the next few months I hope to have the chance to meet with you and talk about your expectations and hopes for our community, but first I'd like to introduce myself and tell you why I'm asking for your support.

I've lived in this district for 14 years, where my husband Bill and I are raising three children with the guidance of our excellent public school system and a warm and supportive community.

Professionally, I have a Masters of Business Administration degree with experience in financial services and environmental consulting, but really my heart has been in the community and in service to those issues of concern to us all.

I've worked at all three levels of government - locally on town boards and regionally on district-wide committees, as well as at the state level on issues of concern to all the citizens of our Commonwealth.

I think having this broad perspective on government has shown me how important it is to have a strong, committed voice for the community's needs and for making things happen.

My issues are your issues: the economy, education, and our environment.

·       I support and will be your voice for a strong and vibrant economy and well-planned, balanced growth that will bring long-lasting benefits to our district without compromising our quality of life.

·       I support and will be your voice for public schools that enrich our children, instill in them a passion for learning, and prepare them for lives as full and willing participants in the life of the community.

·       I support and will be your voice for the protection of our precious land, air and water resources, and for preservation of the open spaces that make our towns and neighborhoods such wonderful places to live and raise families.

That's why I'm running to be your full-time representative: to bring the voice of the community - our voice, our community -- to Beacon Hill.

I look forward to meeting you.

Carolyn Dykema
